Bohemian Eucalyptus and Rattan Light

An elegant and airy DIY lighting project that brings nature indoors. This project focuses on the delicate balance between organic wooden textures and soft botanical elements, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere without the complexity of weaving macramé.
Materials
  • A simple white or black cord light pendant kit
  • Two circular wooden embroidery hoops (different sizes for a tiered effect)
  • Natural raffia or thin jute twine
  • Dried eucalyptus branches or preserved ruscus
  • Low-wattage warm LED Edison bulb
  • Hot glue gun and scissors
Method
  1. Step 1: Separate the embroidery hoops and use only the inner rings. These will serve as your lightweight frame.
  2. Step 2: Connect the two hoops vertically using four equal lengths of jute twine to create a tiered skeletal structure.
  3. Step 3: Secure the pendant light socket to the center of the top hoop using cross-sections of wire or twine, ensuring it is perfectly balanced.
  4. Step 4: Gently wrap the hoops with raffia to hide the wood and add a rustic texture.
  5. Step 5: Attach the dried eucalyptus stems around the hoops using small drops of hot glue or thin wire, allowing some leaves to drape naturally downwards.
  6. Step 6: Install the Edison bulb and hang the lamp to enjoy the play of shadows created by the leaves.
Variations
  • Minimalist: Use only the wooden hoops and a high-quality fabric cord for a cleaner look.
  • Floral: Add dried pampas grass or small white dried flowers for a softer, more romantic vibe.
  • Metallic: Spray paint the hoops in matte gold or copper before adding the greenery for a 'Boho-Luxe' finish.
